Month: June 2017
Often times, no matter how much you love getting BTB produce, you are just so busy during the summer months. We understand!
You may not be able to join in for our full summer basket program because of your busy summer schedule, but why not sign yourself up to join a bit later in the season when things have calmed down? Many co-op members are making the choice to jump in to our basket program part way through so they can still enjoy much of the late-summer/early-fall produce that they love so much!
To provide some consistency to our farmers by making sure they plan to grow enough food for everyone that wants it, members are securing their food with a deposit in the spring and early summer so they can jump right in when they’re ready!
Join in our Jump-In Program! Email email@example.com today!
By the Bushel’s Executive Board of Directors is seeking new members!
The Board holds an essential role the co-operative, helping to guide the co-op, ensuring that decisions made properly represent the needs and desires of its members, and that they align with the co-op’s value system, bylaws, and business plan. Our Board is currently comprised of consumer, worker, and producer members, creating a fair representation of all facets of the By the Bushel community. However, changes to our Board will leave us underrepresented and therefore struggling to take By the Bushel to where it wants to go in the future.
As a member, you have the right to be a part of the Board if elected, and a responsibility to take an active role within your co-op, as we are all part-owners of this wonderful community organization.
As BTB is in the process of scaling-up, we are looking for people who are both skilled and confident in any the following areas, however any useful skills are appreciated and can be worked with:
- Financial Reporting and Planning
- Small-Business Operation and Scaling-Up
- Events and Education
- Human Resources and Communication
Much of the work we do is behind-the-scenes, but we assure you it has great influence on the success of our co-operative. Board meetings are held monthly (usually for 2 hours), with additional hours required for committee work as the co-op requires. On average, Board members spend 10 hours per month performing tasks and responsibilities.
Board terms last 2 years, with the possibility of re-election if you’d like to stay on!
If you are interested in joining a position on our Board, or know someone you think would be a good fit, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are hoping to accept and vote in new Board members at this year’s Annual General Meeting on June 19th.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or wish to nominate yourself or someone else, email firstname.lastname@example.org.

We will once again be joining in on this car-free, open-streets event! By the Bushel is an advocate of reducing food miles through sustainable transportation, so we just had to come back!
That being said, we are looking for volunteers to give us some time (minimum 1 hour) during the event to chat with community members, or to help with our set-up or take-down!
If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
